About Laura
What is the most important thing to know about me? I'm just like you! I have experienced pretty much whatever it is that you're currently experiencing that has led you to consider making a change in your job or career, and that makes me uniquely qualified to help you on your journey.
For many years I worked in the software development field, both as a technician and a manager. In fact, I have two degrees related to software engineering. Over time, however, I became more and more dissatisfied, to the point of actually being unhappy. I finally had to stop and think about what was really important in my life. Life is too short to spend most of your day being unhappy!
So I set out on a search for what I was really meant to do in my life; to find my "right livelihood." Today I am a Career Coach and Psychotherapist - and I have never been happier!
I love to share the tools that I used in my exploration and consequent career transition with my clients. I use a structured approach in combination with "out of the box" thinking to help you discover your interests, desires and passions. Once you know what it is that you want to create in your life, we explore various career ideas that will lead to that end result.
Professional Background: I am a Certified Professional Coach and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have an M.A. in Applied Behavioral Science with concentration in Systems Counseling from Bastyr University. I also have a B.S. Computer Science from Washington State University and a Master of Software Engineering from Seattle University.
